I have developed the Mythology courses in the English Department, and they use both Jungian psychology and Joseph Campbell's ideas of myth and the purpose of the hero/heroine in story/movies. Some of the myth classes include film and literature as way to read "narrative" through visual and interactive media.

For over five years, I have been "nominated to be honored in 'Who's Who Among America's Teachers'...by former students...who have distinguished themselves by being recognized for excellence...in the National Dean's List. The Multiple Year Honoree is a special honor reserved for those teachers who have been nominated by their students a number of times." (Marquis' Who's Who among America's Teachers)

In addition, I am a poet/writer, who has been published in a number of small press journals including most recently Chrysalis Reader: Passages, Louisville Review, and West Wind Review. I have a short story, Cubed forthcoming (2008) in Gastronomica, University of California/Berkeley publications. I have also been a finalist in the Pushcart Prize, nominated by editors of small journals in which writers’ have been published. Finally, I think the mission of Columbia College Chicago is to bridge the disciplines for creative minds and give students the opportunity to combine the humanities with the arts to shape the culture in a new "coexistent" way. My objective is to give meaning to cultural values by introducing the connections between and among the visual, performing, and literary arts, and having students write through the lenses of their own contexts creating new associations to the ideas presented.
