Columbia CPS Award

for incoming students

Students who graduate from Chicago Public Schools with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and are admitted to Columbia College Chicago are guaranteed a renewable Columbia CPS Award.

The Columbia CPS Award is open to:

  • Exceptional high school seniors who are enrolled at a Chicago Public School at the time of admission to Columbia, or who have graduated from a Chicago Public School no more than 12 months prior to admission
  • Admitted students entering for the first time in the Fall 2024 semester
  • Students who have earned a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
    • Chicago Public School graduates with less than a 3.0 GPA may be considered for this award based on the overall strength of their admission file.

Please note: Certain Chicago high schools have school-specific awards:

Recipients of the Columbia CPS Award are not eligible for these individual school scholarships, the Chicago STAR Scholarship, the Dean's Scholarship, the Columbia OneGoal Award, or Columbia Excellence Award.

Award based on:
  • Academic achievement

Renewable Award amount based on Chicago Public School Cumulative GPA:

  • 3.75 or higher: $14,000
  • 3.55 — 3.74: $13,500
  • 3.3 — 3.54: $12,500
  • 3.0 — 3.29: $9,500

Notification of the scholarship:

  • Recipients will be notified by Admissions.
