David Friedman Memorial Scholarship

for continuing undergraduate and graduate students

The David Friedman Memorial Scholarship was established in Fall 2002 as a memorial for a great friend to the Fiction Writing Department. A talented painter and writer, David was a kind, generous man who attended many department events, participated in alumni readings, and offered wonderful support to the department’s faculty and students.

The David Friedman Memorial Scholarship is awarded each year to the best work of student fiction or nonfiction published in the English & Creative Writing Department's magazine, Allium, A Journal of Poetry & Prose.

The David Friedman Memorial Scholarship is open to:

  • Full-time undergraduate and graduate students
  • Graduate students enrolled in a 0 credit hour thesis continuance course are not eligible 

Award Amount:

  • Up to $500 stipend
Notification:
  • Recipient will be notified by email in November 2023.
