Osmond Ireland J-Term Award

For continuing undergraduate students

The Osmond Ireland J-Term Award was established to encourage international travel among students attending the Study Abroad Course Number: COMM 270 | Credit Hours: 3 class by providing financial assistance in the cost of travel.

  Visit Internal Scholarships and click on APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS to access the Osmond Ireland J-Term Award Application. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee. 
  
  Please follow all directions carefully. Students must submit the following materials to make a complete Osmond Ireland J-Term Award Application. There is one part to the application:

  PART 1: ESSAY

  What attracts you to travel to Ireland in J-Term 2026, and how does it fit into your future academic goals? You may use the same essay you wrote for the application to Study Abroad.

  Your essay limit is 500 words.

• Scholarship Terms
  • Application must be submitted by November 10, 2025 (11:59 pm) for review by the committee;
  • Amount of this one-time stipend is up to $1,500 for non-tuition related expenses such as airfare, travel supplies, basic necessities, meals, lodging, etc.;
  • Recipient will receive stipend in mid/late November 2025;
  • Student must have applied to course at the time of application;
  • Student must participate in the COMM 270 | Credit Hours: 3 Ireland J-Term 2026 class;
  • Students who elect not to attend the study abroad program will forfeit the stipend and will need to return the funds to the college;
  • Recipients must maintain enrollment during the 2025-26 academic year;
  • Outstanding documents to Columbia Central before the scholarship can be disbursed. Students can review missing documents in the MyColumbia portal under MyFinancials;
  • The rules and regulations governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts, or loans) will apply;
  • Columbia College Chicago reserves the right to withhold the award in any year in which, at the sole discretion of the scholarship committee, suitable candidates cannot be found among applicants.
