Paula Singer Epstein Library Scholarship

For continuing undergraduate students

The Paula Singer Epstein Library Scholarship was established to assist in defraying educational costs for students working for the Columbia College Chicago Library.

• How to Apply

  Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee. Please follow all directions carefully and submit the following materials to make a complete application.

  Choose one of the topics below and write a one- to two-page essay:

  • Tell us how the library has played a role in the pursuit of your degree. Give specific examples of library resources, materials, equipment, encounters, etc. in your story.
  • Is there a service, resource, or program the Library could provide to better support students? This could be improving an existing service or resource, enhancing promotion for current offerings, or presenting ideas for new services.
  • How has working in the library helped you prepare for entering the workforce?

   

   

• About Scholarship Donor

  Paula Epstein was a reference and instruction librarian of the Columbia College Chicago Library. Paula provided library instruction to hundreds of Columbia students, and was a friend to everyone she met during her tenure at the college.

• Scholarship Terms
  • Application must be submitted by March 1, 2024 (11:59 pm) for review by the committee
  • Award amount is a $2,500 stipend, awarded half in Fall 2024 and half in Spring 2025
  • Award is applied towards the student’s educational costs
  • Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment during the 2024-25 academic year
  • The rules and regulations governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts, or loans) will apply
  • Columbia College Chicago reserves the right to withhold the award in any year in which, at the sole discretion of the scholarship committee, suitable candidates cannot be found among applicants

• 12:00AM - 11:55PM 2024-25 Degree Completion Assistance Grant Application Deadline
  The Degree Completion Assistance Grant provides financial support to juniors and seniors who are nearing graduation, and who can demonstrate that receiving assistance from the grant will help them in achieving their academic goals.
