Associate Professor Elio Leturia’s 'Tita Turns 100' Nominated for Lisagor Award

Journalism associate professor Elio Leturia is a finalist for the 40th Annual Peter Lisagor Awards in the “Best Short Film Documentary” category for Tita Turns 100. The bilingual documentary portrays the life of Tita Lage, a centennial double-immigrant, and was directed by Leturia. Crew members include associate chair of Music and associate professor Sebastian Huydts, Columbia graduates A. J. Olstad ’15 and Brandon D. Wood ‘14, Argentinian photographer Mariano Rebasa, and former student Erik Rodríguez. The film explores topics of social class, minority status and Argentinian, Spanish, and U.S. culture while celebrating aging and history. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Friday, May 12 at the Union League of Chicago.
