Alum's Cross-Country Skateboard Documentary Acquired by Gravitas Ventures

Shred America, directed by Arthur Swidzinski '12, is now available on streaming services.

After more than 10 years of production, a documentary directed by Columbia College Chicago alum Arthur Swidzinski has been acquired by Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios company, and is now available on streaming services.

SHRED AMERICA documents the journey of four 20-year-olds, including Swidzinski, who travel by skateboard from Chicago to New York during the summer of 2008.

Swidzinski, a 2012 graduate with a BA in Television and Post Production, says he and the film's co-producer, Michael Kosciesza of Niles, IL, have been friends since middle school and their shared passion for skateboarding held them virtually inseparable into adulthood.

"I made this film while I was still attending Columbia College Chicago as a 20-year-old," said Swidzinski. "It took 12 years to finally find it a home with Gravitas and we couldn't be happier."

Swidzinski says the classes and instructors that most influenced him to complete this film were Culture Race and Media with Beau Beaudoin, Bill Glader (Production and Editing), Matt Rappaport (Motion Graphics) and David Jude Green (Design).
