Columbia Faculty Featured in Documentary on the History of Improv
Columbia College Chicago faculty members, Anne Libera, Associate Professor in the Theatre Department’s Bachelor of Arts Program in Comedy Writing and Performance, and Richard Walker, Assistant Professor in Columbia’s Comedy Writing and Performance program, were recently featured in a documentary on the art and history of improvised theater.
The film, which was produced by WTTW, focuses on the life and work of the late Viola Spolin, a first-generation American born to Russian Jewish immigrants. Spolin was a social worker at Chicago’s Hull House social service agency where she led a drama program and developed theater games to bring together children of immigrants from all over the world.
