The Dance COLEctive’s ‘REboot’

The Dance COLEctive’s first concert program performance since 2017 will feature several Dance faculty members and alumni.

The Dance COLEctive (TDC) returns to the stage with REboot, a concert program in partnership with Third Way Projects featuring several Columbia alums and faculty members. REboot is led by Founder/ Artistic director, Dance faculty member, and Dance alum Margi Cole ’90.

The company’s first concert program performance series will follow up its 2017 shift in mission, structure, and artistic focus, noting that “TDC transitioned from maintaining an ongoing ensemble of dancers to a project-based structure; focused more on solo work; and continued to build a base of national and international residencies and mentoring opportunities.”

For over 20 years, TDC has worked to challenge assumptions about how dance is performed by offering innovative collaborations and practices. REboot will feature a group of four dancers that aims to explore the discomfort and beauty of vulnerability. As Cole explains, “A ‘reboot’ conveys the idea of a new beginning, and these concerts are the first by what I consider a distinctly new version of TDC.” REboot is choreographed by Cole, Interim Chair of Theatre Peter Carpenter, and Dance faculty member and Dance alum Colleen Halloran ’09.

The program will run Friday, September 14 through Sunday, September 16 at Dovetail Studios. More information can be found here.
