Science and Mathematics Colloquium Series: Shedding Infrared Light on the Mysteries of Star Birth
The Science and Mathematics Department will kick off its Spring Semester Colloquium Series with “Shedding Infrared Light on the Mysteries of Star Birth,” a presentation from Adler Planetarium astronomer Dr. Grace Wolf-Chase.
“Shedding Infrared Light on the Mysteries of Star Birth” will explore the beginning developments of stellar nurseries. The presentation will include some of the recent results made possible by volunteers working on the Milky Way Project, a citizen science initiative that is part of Zooniverse, the world’s largest and most popular platform for people-powered research.
The Science and Mathematics Colloquium Series invites distinguished speakers from related disciplines to present current, exciting scientific research to Columbia faculty, staff and students, as well as to Chicago's broader community. Reflecting Columbia's emphasis on the arts, select talks examine the intersections among science, mathematics, arts and the media.Shedding Infrared Light on the Mysteries of Star Birth
