Columbia College Chicago's AEMMP Records Showcases Young Chicago Talent at South By Southwest

Emerging hip-hop artists, musicians, and business entrepreneurs join forces to bring a “Lil’ Taste of the Chi” to world's largest music festival

CHICAGO (March 14, 2018)Columbia College Chicago’s student-run AEMMP Records will host a special music showcase, “Lil’ Taste of the Chi,” on March 15, noon-6 p.m. in Austin, Texas, featuring young rising stars in hip-hop and other music genres out of Chicago.

“Lil’ Taste of the Chi” is planned and produced by Columbia business and entrepreneurship students who secure a venue and create a platform for Columbia hip-hop artists and musicians to perform. The production team and performers all had the opportunity this year to work with faculty member Alex Fruchter, who co-runs Closed Sessions (the “independent record label restoring Chicago hip-hop”).

This year, more than 100 Columbia students studying film, business, music, and more, are attending South by Southwest (SXSW) to network, attend workshops and panels, stage events, and perform.
