Scholarships

Apply for scholarships to fund your education at Columbia College Chicago.

When to apply

Prospective Undergraduate Students

  • Columbia offers renewable scholarships - both merit and financial need-based - to transfer and incoming freshmen.
  • To be considered for a talent-based scholarship, submit creative samples of work along with your undergraduate application by the January 15 deadline.

Prospective Graduate Students

  • Incoming students are automatically considered for the Graduate Merit Award if they submit a complete admissions application by the application deadline in their graduate program. Award amounts are up to full tuition based on the duration of the program and the strength of the admissions application.
  • International students are considered for this award.
  • A Graduate Assistantship provides a full scholarship up to the number of credit hours required for a student's academic program. Additionally, it provides a paid, part-time job on campus for 10 or more hours per week. Graduate Assistantships are awarded to outstanding applicants by the academic department at the time of admission.

What is needed to apply

Prospective Undergraduate Students

  • Students need to complete their undergraduate admission application and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Scholarships are awarded through May 1, if funds are available, and recipients are notified through their Financial Aid Award Letter. Please note: typically, scholarships are awarded to students who are planning to enroll for the fall term. However, there are a limited number of scholarships offered to students who begin their studies in the spring term.
  • To be considered for a talent-based scholarship, submit creative samples of work along with your undergraduate application by the January 15 deadline. For details on how to submit a portfolio of your best creative work, visit colum.edu/portfolio-info.

Prospective Graduate Students

  • Columbia offers scholarships to support the work being done by our continuing graduate students. The majority of these awards are merit- and need-based and available both college-wide and within individual departments. Use the Scholarship Finder for comprehensive, detailed information, as well as eligibility and application requirements for each of these scholarships. Please read and follow the instructions carefully.
