Pieter Ombregt Scholarship

For continuing undergraduate students

The Pieter Ombregt Scholarship is open to advanced undergraduate Photography majors.

Deadline to Apply: December 03, 2018

 

The Pieter Ombregt Scholarship is open to:

  • Full-time undergraduate Photography majors who have completed Advanced Lighting
  • Students who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Students able to submit a portfolio of images for review by members of the Photography Department
Scholarship based on:
  • Submitted portfolio and statement of work
Scholarship amount:
  • Ranges from $500 to $2,000 stipend

    • Endowed scholarship award amounts are subject to change.
Notification of the scholarship:
  • All applicants will be notified by email.
How to Apply

Go to the Photography Department Scholarship Application available online through your OASIS portal to apply for the Pieter Ombregt Scholarship. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.

Please follow all directions carefully. Students must submit the following materials to make a complete Pieter Ombregt Scholarship application. There are two parts to the application:

PART 1: PORTFOLIO

A submitted digital portfolio of work is required.

  • 15-20 images. Work from one or two sustained projects is recommended. A portfolio that demonstrates an ambitious commitment to exploring one subject or idea is an important plus.
  • All images may be submitted in one file, but additional upload space will be provided.

Upload your sample in .pdf, .doc, .docx or .jpg format. Note: Upload size limit is 50MB

 

PART 2: WORK STATEMENT

Provide a statement describing the work samples you are submitting.

Your statement must be double-spaced and must include your name and OASIS ID number in the upper right-hand corner of each page. Please upload your essay in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format.

 

Access online applications through the "Scholarships" tab in your OASIS portal.

About Pieter Ombregt

Pieter Ombregt was a gifted photography student at Columbia College Chicago when he died from injuries sustained in a bicycle racing accident in 2007. This scholarship was established in honor of Pieter's life and memory by his aunt, Anne-Marie Ombregt.

Scholarship Terms
  • Application must be submitted by December 3, 2018 (11:59 pm) for review by the committee
  • Amount ranges from $500 to $2,000 stipend
  • Recipients must be enrolled full-time during the 2018-19 academic year
  • Recipients will receive stipend from Student Financial Services by the start of the Spring 2019 semester
  • Scholarship is limited to courses for which a student registers through OASIS and does not cover Columbia Online courses
  • If you are receiving state or federal financial aid, the rules governing other sources of financial assistance will apply
  • Columbia College Chicago reserves the right to withhold the scholarship in any year in which, at the sole discretion of the scholarship committee, suitable candidates cannot be found among applicants
