The Center for Student Success

The Center for Student Success is the First Stop for Academic, Financial, and Holistic Support

The Center for Student Success was created to support students as they navigate the Columbia experience by connecting them to professional resources on campus and removing obstacles on their way to graduation.

The Center offers several ways for students to find support and to engage with professional staff. Students can drop in for a quick consultation, schedule an appointment, attend a success workshop, or connect with staff online, via email, or phone.

Student Financial Services

Student Financial Services in partnership with the Center for Student Success can help students answer all financial questions including, setting up payment plans, finding scholarships, understanding financial assistance, and more. Drop in for consultations, schedule an appointment, or email the team for assistance.

Academic Advising

All undergraduate students are assigned an academic advisor based on their declared major. Advisors can assist students with developing a graduation plan, registering for classes, changing majors or declaring a minor, and reviewing graduation progress audits. The advisors work closely with faculty to help students fulfill their academic goals.

Student Belonging and Persistence

The Office of Student Belonging and Persistence (SBP) is located on the 4th floor of 618 S. Michigan Ave. and is part of Columbia’s Student Success Team. The SBP team is committed to supporting students as they navigate college life, build community, and develop their personal and social identities. Through workshops, programs, and one-on-one appointments, held both in SBP and in the Center for Student Success, SBP staff create opportunities for students to connect, grow, and thrive at Columbia.
