Biography

I'm an adunct faculty member in the Cinema and Television Arts department of Columbia's School of Media Arts. I teach mulitcamera studio production. When I began teaching I had experience in television news, studio production, remote production, live talk shows and games shows, and local commercial production. I've most recently been on the faculty of the Art Institute of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.  I hold a BA from the University of Wisconsin and a teaching certificate from Cardinal Stritch University.

Instructional Areas

Over the years I've taught pre-production, lighting for television, Film History, Aesthetics of television, and video production. My most rewarding teaching experiences have come from teaching multicamera studio production at Columbia College. It gives me an opportunity to take students with little or no television experience and see them grow to the point where they can walk into a studio and be comfortable with any crew position or piece of equipment.

Creative Practice and Research Interests

I have a keen interest in old B pictures from the 30's and 40's, including cliffhanger serials and the "old dark house" genre of mysteries from that era.
