Live in the middle of it all. Our residence halls are conveniently located steps from the main campus buildings and close to public transportation. Features and room types vary by building—read below for more info about each residence hall. New freshmen are expected to live in on-campus housing their first year.

  • 731 S. Plymouth Court

    Columbia's premier residence center, Plymouth Court houses the main offices of Residence Life and approximately 350 Columbia students. 731 S. Plymouth Court features apartment-style units with four to six students per unit in double-occupancy bedrooms. Each apartment has a full kitchen and full bath, plus a spacious living and dining area. High ceilings and immense windows with views of the surrounding cityscape combine to create the "loft" feel of these appealingly urban living spaces.

  • The Arc

    The Arc puts you smack in the middle of the Chicago Loop. Formerly known as the Old Colony Building, this architectural masterpiece and Chicago Landmark was converted into modern apartments in 2015. Housing options include double-occupancy and private bedrooms in shared apartments. Amenities include a study lounge with computers and free printing, 24-hour fitness center, rooftop oasis with gas grills, game room and bike storage. Students must be 20 or older upon move-in to live in the Arc.

  • The Dwight

    Built in 1911 as the headquarters of the Dwight Brothers Paper Company, the Dwight Building was home to multiple independent printing and binding shops. A classic example of the "company lofts" style, the building became a landmark in the Printers Row area of Chicago. While the building has been wholly renovated, its spirit has been preserved. The Dwight stays true to its heritage as a working space—a place where aesthetics and creativity are held in the highest esteem.   • The University Center

    The University Center (UC) has created a home away from home for approximately 1,700 college students from Columbia and nearby DePaul and Roosevelt universities. The UC has established a one-of-a-kind community in downtown Chicago by combining living, learning and a collegial spirit in a way never done before. The UC features a fitness center, multimedia rooms, music practice rooms, an art studio, study rooms and a game room, along with laundry facilities, a kitchen on every floor and bicycle storage.

Gender-Inclusive Housing

Columbia College Chicago is committed to providing a safe, accepting, and inclusive experience for all students. The college has a nondiscrimination policy that includes gender identity and/or expression. This policy extends to student housing. As such, Residence Life is proud to offer gender-inclusive housing options. These living options provide an on-campus residence experience that welcomes students across all gender identities and/or expressions, including transgender, questioning, or gender nonconforming students. All residential students, regardless of sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation, have the option of requesting a gender-inclusive room on the housing application.
