Biography

Joe Bogdan is a 30+ year veteran of the entertainment industry. He began his career as an attorney in private practice focusing on the leveraged exploitation of entertainment content through new media platforms. He spent the majority of his law firm years at Manatt, Phelps & Phillips in Los Angeles, where he concluded his private practice career in 2000.

After private practice, Joe spent 6 years as an entrepreneur, in executive roles with two successive, venture-backed convergence startups: OnAir Streaming Networks, an early music streaming technology company; and Cognitive Concepts, creator of the Earobics® line of early literacy technologies.

Following entrepreneurship, Joe was Sr. V.P. of Business and Legal Affairs for World Wrestling Entertainment, where he held primary responsibility for running the day-to-day operation of the Business Affairs of the company.

Today, while teaching at Columbia College, Joe continues to consult for a variety of clients, from individual entertainment personalities to publicly traded companies, advising primarily on strategies designed to build, manage and generate incremental revenue from content and other intellectual property portfolios.  At Columbia College, Joe teaches Club Management: Practicum, Entrepreneurship, Events Management: Practicum, Law for Creative Industries, Managing and Licensing Intellectual Property (graduate and undergraduate) and Business of Live Entertainment.

Mr. Bogdan has a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Illinois, and both an M.A. in Communications Management and a J.D. from the University of Southern California. He previously taught on an adjunct basis at University of Connecticut, Illinois Institute of Technology and Chicago-Kent College of Law.
