The Paula Pfeffer and Cheryl Johnson-Odim Political Cartoon Contest

The Paula Pfeffer and Cheryl Johnson-Odim Political Cartoon Contest provides Columbia College Chicago students with an opportunity to become political and social commentators, demonstrate their artistic skills and showcase their analytical abilities. The annual contest winners receive a certificate and a monetary prize.

Sam Pfeffer, Emeritus Trustee at Columbia College Chicago, endowed the contest and named it after his wife, Paula, and Cheryl Johnson-Odim, then the dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Housed in the Humanities, History and Social Sciences Department, the competition is sponsored by the Office of the Dean in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences in collaboration with The Columbia Chronicle.

The annual contest winners receive a certificate and a monetary prize: $550 for first place, $450 for second place, $350 for third place, and two honorable mentions of $250 each.

    Both single-panel and multi-panel cartoons are acceptable for this contest. Submitted cartoons must be drawn or printed on 8.5x11 white paper. 
    Email your scan submissions (Limit 5) by JPG, PNG, or PDF by April 9 to: Oscar Valdez at ovaldez@colum.edu.
