Deborah Maue Appointed VP of Strategic Marketing & Communications

CHICAGO (Apr. 21, 2015) -- Columbia College Chicago has announced the selection of Deborah Maue as vice president of strategic marketing & communications. She begins at the College on April 29th.

Chosen through a national search in partnership with Isaacson, Miller, a leading civic and higher education search firm, Maue brings extensive experience in consumer brand marketing and higher education. She joins the College from mStoner, a higher education marketing firm, where she served as senior strategist and helped higher education institutions and affiliated organizations understand more about their target markets, clarify their brand position, and better communicate their distinctive assets across audiences.

“Deb brings tremendous skill, energy and passion for the college’s mission,” said Columbia College Chicago President and CEO Kwang-Wu Kim. “I’m confident she will take our marketing and communications work to an entirely new level of effectiveness.”

In her new role, Maue will partner with Kim to provide innovative leadership and strategic vision to the College’s marketing, branding and communications divisions. She will also have a significant role in the implementation of the College’s Strategic Action Plan. Maue will oversee staff across marketing, publications, creative, web and digital, and the news office, and will collaborate closely with admissions, student communications, and academic units throughout the college.

“Columbia College has a wonderfully rich history in arts and media education with a robust liberal arts core,” said Maue. “I’m thrilled to join President Kim’s leadership team, and look forward to helping clarify and share the great story the College has to tell.”

Maue has more than 20 years of experience in consumer packaged goods and higher education marketing, including quantitative and qualitative market research, brand development, marketing strategy, and marketing communications. Prior to her position at mStoner, Maue led the higher education group at TRU, the global leader in teen and young adult insights, and spent seven years as the associate vice president for marketing strategy at DePaul University, where she led DePaul’s strategic branding and marketing efforts.

Maue received her Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Juniata College and an MBA in marketing and finance from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
