Club Sports-Renegades

A Renegade is a rebel. Someone who will go against the grain to fight for what he/she believes is right. Fitness, Athletics, & Recreation (Renegades) firmly believes that this nickname embodies students at Columbia College Chicago.

Our Mission: The mission of the Fitness, Athletics and Recreation Student Association (Renegades) is to develop the physical, social, organizational, emotional and competitive skills of Columbia College’s students necessary for the cultivation of a sound mind in a sound body.

The Renegades seeks to encourage participation in competitive clubs sports for the love of the game, market teams to the community at large, assist in fundraising for club sports teams, provide operational structure to club teams and make available very modest financial support to club teams. In traditional models of student athletics, the college serves the athletics department often because of the marketing benefits the institution gains, while Columbia supports a model that emphasizes club sports as a tool to improve the student’s life skills, health and wellness.

The primary source of funding for the Renegades is the student activity fee.

The Executive Board of the Fitness, Athletics and Recreation Association are as follows:

President: Erienne Byers, erienne.byers@loop.colum.edu

Vice President: Kevin Hartmann, kevin.hartmann@loop.colum.edu

Treasurer: Chris Hooker, christopher.hooker@loop.colum.edu

The Executive Board of the Renegades meets every Monday from 5pm-6pm at the Loft, 916 S. Wabash, 4th floor.

Any one interested in participating or organizing club sports is welcomed to attend. The Renegades office is located in the Office of Student Engagement in the Loft. You can reach the Renegades by phone at 312-369-6917 or email them at athletics@colum.edu.
