Melanie Chambliss’ 2018 Recent Talks and Presentations

Humanities, History, and Social Sciences Assistant Professor Melanie Chambliss participated in a roundtable entitled "New Approaches to African-American Intellectual History.” The roundtable was a part of the 2018 Society for U.S. Intellectual History Conference. The theme of this year’s conference was “Anti-Intellectual Sensibilities.” Presentations included topics ranging from alternative facts, to anti-elitism, to anti-establishment movements recounting and centering on various events in the US.

In addition to her participation in a roundtable, Chambliss delivered a talk titled "Saving the Race: Black Archives, Black Liberation, and the Shaping of African American History." Her talk was given at the Black Film Center/Archive at Indiana University-Bloomington on November 13.

Chambliss joined Columbia College Chicago in 2018 and serves on the committee for Academic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
