Columbia College Chicago is commemorating the work of its creative community with the annual Faculty Showcase and Faculty Publication Celebration. This year the Library and Faculty Development have collaborated to create an online reception for both events.

The Faculty Publication Celebration, now in its fifth year, was created as a way share the research, creative projects, and accomplishments of Columbia’s faculty. Ames Hawkins, Ph.D., Associate Provost for Faculty Research and Development, says this event has become a signature, highly popular program among the portfolio's many offerings.

Since its inception, the Faculty Publication Celebration has featured more than five hundred publications with participants from all three schools, often representing all fifteen departments.

The list of 60 recognized faculty members and their publications can be viewed here.

Additionally, Columbia’s Faculty Showcases have also moved to a virtual format in 2021. For the past three years, faculty has participated in these live events hosted by the Office of the Provost in order to recognize, feature, and share faculty members' scholarly and creative endeavor that has resulted from Sabbatical Leave Awards and Faculty Development Grants.

The virtual show includes images, clips, and descriptions across a range of forms and genres including visual art, documentary filmmaking, design, and public scholarship. The projects are all engaging, innovative, and aesthetic; they represent leading-edge work in the faculty members’ respective fields, according to Hawkins.

"The Library has been a critical partner and invested collaborator in this event since its inception," said Hawkins. "This year, they have gone above and beyond by supporting and coordinating all necessary efforts to 'go digital' and create a Publication Celebration Website."
