Cheers for Ears 2018

Audio Arts and Acoustics and Creative Arts Therapies Department to sponsor a free family concert for children with deafness and hearing loss.

KidStock, a Cheers for Ears free family concert sponsored by Columbia’s Audio Arts and Acoustics Department and the Creative Arts Therapies Department and hosted by the Foundation for Hearing and Speech Rehabilitation (FHSR), will take place April 22 at Stage Two. Audio Arts and Acoustics Associate Professor Benj Kanters, an FHSR board member who works in audiology and hearing loss in children, will host.

The FHSR is a youth-focused organization that works to fund programs that “allow children with deafness/hearing loss to fully participate in all aspects of life. From education to equipment support to social interactions our goal is for these children to be on par with their hearing peers.”

The seventh iteration of this event will feature Macaroni Soup, a Parents’ Choice Gold Medal Award Winner whose founder, early childhood music specialist Miss Carole, presents goofy, engaging songs that appeal to children and adults alike. Following the concert will be a reception featuring arts and crafts stations, and costumed characters from Med-El, Cochlear Americas, and Advanced Bionics will attend for playtime with the children.
