Fall 2018 Reading Series: Lindsay Hunter and Matthew Rohrer

The Fall 2018 Creative Writing Reading Series kicks off with readings from novelist Lindsay Hunter and poet Matthew Rohrer.

The English and Creative Writing Department will kick off its annual Creative Writing Reading Series starting Wednesday, September 19. The Creative Writing Reading Series runs throughout the academic year and features contemporary writers who challenge standard literary discourses and embraces relevant, diverse voices. The reading series aims to foster thought-provoking and influential conversations about the industry. The Creative Writing Reading Series will begin with a student reader and end with a Q&A from the featured writers.

Kicking off the first reading are Lindsay Hunter and Matthew Rohrer. Lindsay Hunter is a Chicago writer whose novel Eat Only When You’re Hungry was a finalist for the 2017 Chicago Review of Books Fiction Award. She is also the author of Ugly Girls and the short story collections Daddy’s and Don’t Kiss Me.

Matthew Rohrer has authored nine books of poetry. His recent release, The Others, won the 2018 Believer Book Award. His first book, A Hummock in the Malookas, was a winner in the 1994 National Poetry Series and was selected by Publishers Weekly as Best Book of the Year. He teaches writing at New York University.
