Columbia will welcome its new students to campus at the New Student Convocation, which showcases Columbia's creative community.

Columbia College Chicago will welcome its new students to the New Student Convocation, an annual event intended to showcase Columbia’s creative community.

This year’s convocation will begin with a speaking assembly featuring Student Government Association President Jazmin Bryant, Faculty Senate President Sean Andrews, Student Organizations and Leadership Director Orterio Villa, and President Kwang-Wu Kim. Following the speakers, there will be a live performance from musician and alumna Chinaa, whose song “Royalty” won this year’s Manifest music competition.

Following the general assembly, new students are encouraged to attend the Student Services Expo. The expo will showcase more than 70 student services and student organizations and will allow new students to learn about Columbia’s resources, connect with current students, and begin campus involvement.

The convocation will feature live performances from student talent DJ JSmooth, Serendipity, and S.O.S. There will be a special performance by the Renegades Dance Crew, and Frequency TV will be interviewing students for their broadcast. Henna artists, psychics, and puzzle making will also be at the event and sponsored by Engage Columbia and the Workroom. Lunch will be provided to event attendees.
