The Art and Design department has awarded a $500 prize to one graduating student in each of its eight program areas who participated in Manifest 2012.
Susan Smith's Advertising Design class also worked with the Director of Marketing and Events at Chicago Union Station to develop solutions to the vacant outdoor planters surrounding the station on two sides. This real-world assignment is to provide an attractive solution to fill/use the outdoor planters with a stellar installation theme.
Susan Smith's Creative Strategies II classes created themed calendars for 2013 to sell in collaboration with ShopColumbia. As group projects, students selected a theme, master design plan, and branding identity to market to the student body target audience.
Students in Susan Smith's Creative Strategies II class created Open House 2013 campaigns for Chicago Union Station that were designed to "sell the space" for future events to a B2B target audience in the Chicago area.
Nikki Renee Anderson, adjunct faculty in Fine Arts, will exhibit work as part of the show Forms and Fragments with Shelley Gilchrist, Donna Hapac, and Mimi Peterson at the Art Museo Gallery, Intercontinental Chicago O'Hare.
Adjunct faculty member Fern Valfer's painting, "Night Boat", has recently been acquired by the Illinois State Museum and is now in the permanent collection in Chicago and Springfield.
Tim Cozzens, Associate Professor in Interior Architecture, recently presented "Entry Table 15" at the Interior Design Educators Council National Conference in Baltimore, and received First Place in the Art category of the Creative Scholarship competition.
A+D Faculty Julian Williams joins fellow Chicago artist Stephen Flemister in the exhibition Involuntary. Loss(y). Privacy on display May 11-July 21, 2012 at Blanc Gallery.
