Ali holds a B.S. and M.S. in Human and Consumer Sciences from Ohio University. She is a doctoral candidate at Oregon State University and is currently completing her dissertation. Ali teaches courses in merchandising management and social and psychological aspects of fashion. Her research interests include identity formation and dress among adult female populations, social justice research focusing primarily on minority women living in the United States, and bringing a technologically driven pedagogy to the classroom. Her dissertation focuses wholly on two of those areas, exploring how dress impacts identity on first generation female Iranian Muslim immigrants living, working, and studying in the U.S.
