After finding success in Hollywood, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts invited David McHugh to head up their MFA program in music composition. He spent sixteen years there before relocating to Chicago.
Throughout his forty-year career he has composed music in every genre including concert works, modern dance pieces, film scores, TV jingles, TV movies, musicals, documentaries, and music and lyrics for hundreds of songs. His film scores include Mystic Pizza, Three Fugitives, Daddy’s Dyin’ Who’s Got The Will, The Dream Team, and Moscow On The Hudson, a work for which he earned a platinum record for the song “Freedom”, performed by Chaka Chan. He also earned a gold record for his song, “Where I’ll Find You”, which appeared on Roberta Flack’s album Blue Lights in The Basement.
