WCRX-FM Wins 5 International Radio Awards!

WCRX-FM has received 5 industry awards in this years 2014 Communicator Awards competition. Top honors go to WCRX-FM's Shane Riordan who snagged the Award of Excellence for his "Chicago Bears Parody."

The annual international competition recognizes outstanding work in the communication field. Entries are judged by industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.

First Place winner Shane Riordan describes how he put together the winning enty. "Chicago Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler had just gone down to injury, safety Chris Conte was having a hard time stopping children from catching touchdown passes, and playoff hopes were diminishing. And as the appropriate time for Christmas music drew near, making the song was my attempt at liberating the hearts of Bears fans across the globe. Winning the award is an honor that's just settling in. I couldn't have done it without Columbia's resources and my friends and fellow students belting out those lyrics."
