Mick Thomasson has been the master carpenter for the Columbia College Chicago Theater Department since 1996. Before coming to Columbia College, Mick worked in the industrial entertainment industry for several decades. His experience includes film grip and special effects work for John Hughes Productions, television set construction for such shows as the Oprah Winfrey Show and the Jerry Springer Show, and television commercial production work for clients such as Miller Brewing Company and the Illinois Lottery. Mick has also worked on museum exhibit construction for several Chicago museums, including the Chicago History Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Science and Industry. Past industrial exhibit clients include HBO, MCA Entertainment, the National Basketball Association, and many others. Mick has a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Arts and English from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. He is also an independent film director, actor, and cinematographer.
