U-n-f-o-l-d

In 2001, artist David Buckland created Cape Farewell to instigate a cultural response to climate change.  Since then, Cape Farewell has brought together leading artists, writers, scientists, educators, and media for a series of expeditions.  Together they have mapped, measured and been inspired by these environments and have brought home stories and artworks that show the effects of a warming planet.  Climate change is caused by the way we choose to live in our urban environment and a cultural shift of values could stabilize what is potentially a dangerous situation.  Cape Farewell is committed to the notion that artists can engage the public in this issue through creative insight and vision.

U-n-f-o-l-d. A Cultural Response to Climate Change presents the work of twenty-five artists who participated in Cape Farewell expeditions to the Andes and the High Arctic.  Each artist witnessed firsthand the dramatic and fragile environmental tipping points of climate change.  Their innovative, independent and collective responses explore the physical, emotional and political dimensions of our complex and changing world—one that is stressed by profligate human activity.
