More Than a Campus, a Community
Five years ago, 500 students lived on Columbia’s South Loop campus. Now more than 2,500 do. They’re part of an incredibly diverse community of students, faculty, and staff who call Columbia’s campus home, whether for 8 hours a day or 24. Our Office of Student Affairs, nonexistent a decade ago, supports student life outside the classroom that keeps our campus buzzing from early in the morning to late at night, as the creative efforts of our student community come to life in screenings, exhibitions, readings, and a hundred other activities from convocation to commencement. Our students approve. Since 2003, student satisfaction with our sense of community has increased 822 percent.
