The Irv Kupcinet Media Arts Scholarship application is available online through your OASIS portal. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.
Please follow all directions carefully. Students must submit the following materials to make a complete Irv Kupcinet Media Arts Scholarship application - there are four parts to the application:
PART 1: ESSAY
In a two- to three-page essay, describe your accomplishments to date in your discipline at Columbia College.
Your essay must be double-spaced and must include your name and OASIS ID number in the upper right-hand corner of the page. Please upload your response in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format.
PART 2: CREATIVE SAMPLES OF WORK (OPTIONAL)
You may select your best work to illustrate your accomplishments in your major. Please follow these submission guidelines:
- AUDIO SAMPLES: Total listening time may not exceed 10 minutes. Please upload your sample in .mp3 format.
- WRITING SAMPLES: Writing samples: Short stories, essay, and screenplays must be typed. If your work was published in the school newspaper, magazine, or other publication, you may submit an image of the publication itself. Highlight your contribution so that it can be easily located. You may submit no more than 10 pages total - all pages should be combined into one upload. Please upload your sample in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format.
- WEB-BASED SUBMISSIONS: Describe your role in the development of the project, and provide the full url for each page. Please upload your description with url in .pdf, .doc, or .docx format.
NOTE: Upload size limit is 50 MB.
PART 3: LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION
One letter of recommendation is required from a Columbia College faculty member in your discipline who is familiar with your academic abilities.
For your convenience, the online application system will send an e-mail notification directly to the person you've chosen to complete your recommendation. This person will be invited to complete the recommendation online with ease and will not need to mail, fax, or e-mail their recommendation. Please be prepared with the e-mail address of the person making the recommendation.
Note: Remember to contact your recommender directly before providing his/her information on the application. Be sure to give faculty members as much time as possible to write the letters. Requests made at the last minute are often difficult for faculty to fulfill by the deadline.
PART 4: STUDENT AID REPORT
A current Student Aid Report (SAR) must be on file. To receive an SAR, students must complete a financial aid application (FAFSA), available after January 1st of each year.
