Pougialis Fine Art Award

The Pougialis Fine Art Award application is available online through your OASIS portal. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.

The Pougialis Fine Art Award application process is in two parts. Part one - apply online. Part two - install their creative work at the Averill and Bernard Leviton A+D Gallery at 619 S. Wabash for competition. See details below:

Upload an artist statement and a description of the work to be potentially installed.

Creative work may include but is not limited to: painting, drawing, objects, installation, video, performance, prints, photography, and multiples.

Students will have 2 days to set up their work and will be responsible for installing and de-installing their work - the days and times to install are:

• April 25, 2012 - 10 am to 5 pm
• April 26, 2012 - 10 am to 3:30 pm

NOTE: A copy of your artist statement will need to accompany the work.

Judging:

• April 26, 2012 - 4:30 to 5:30 pm

Reception:

• April 26, 2012 - 5:30 to 7:30 pm

De-installation and pick-up date:

• April 27, 2012 - 10 am to 5 pm

GALLERY INSTALLATION GUIDELINES:

• Painting is not allowed on gallery walls and water/dirt is not allowed as a component of installations or artwork
• Pedestals and audio/visual equipment will be available on a first come/first served basis per application submission date
• The Averill and Bernard Leviton A+D Gallery staff will supply basic tools and hardware

1. Applicant Portal: You may scroll through the list of scholarship programs until you locate the Pougialis Fine Art Award, and then select the "Start Application" link.


2. Scholarship Search: Select the "Search Scholarships" link in the navigation on the left-hand side of the page. You may search for the Pougialis Fine Art Award by using category, keyword, or description/name search. Once you locate the program, select the "More Info" link to be taken to the application form.

• Go to OASIS portal

• Application must be submitted by March 12, 2012 (11:59 pm) for review by the committee
• First place award is $2,000 plus a tuition credit equivelant to six semester hours in Fall 2012
• Second place award is $1,500
• Students will have an exhibition at the Averill and Bernard Leviton A+D Gallery in Spring 2013
• Students must be enrolled as full-time students at the time of application and must maintain full-time enrollment during the Fall 2012 semester
• Students who are not selected to receive the award may compete in subsequent years
• Scholarship may not be used toward independent study abroad programs
• Recipients will be asked to complete a 200-word essay describing how the Pougialis Fine Arts Award made a difference in his/her life to share with the donors; portions of the essay may also be used for publication
• The rules governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts or loans) will apply
• Columbia College Chicago reserves the right to withhold the award in any year in which, at the sole discretion of the scholarship committee, suitable candidates cannot be found among applicants
