Sickness or injury can occur when you least expect it. So, with your health concerns in mind, Columbia College Chicago has provided you with an on-campus Health Center that will enable you to receive medical attention, or referrals, as soon as possible.
A physician or nurse practitioner is available to provide outpatient clinical evaluation, treatment of minor illnesses, injuries, and also, evaluation and triage/referral for more serious illnesses or injuries.
The Health Center is also active in health promotion. Illness prevention measures, such as immunizations and flu vaccines, will be available periodically.
In case of more serious health problems, the Health Center can also serve as a resource that helps direct students to more appropriate health care.
Eligibility
There are no special requirements necessary to receive care from the Columbia College Chicago Health Center. These services are available to all students with a current Columbia College student ID card.
Should you require a higher level of service due to an urgent or chronic condition, the Heath Center staff will advise you verbally or in writing of the possible diagnosis, testing, and treatment recommended. Services that are not provided by the Health Center may be covered by your health insurance plan. Health Center staff will be able to advise you on where and how to utilize your health insurance plan to cover medical costs incurred.
Students MUST show a current Columbia College Chicago ID before receiving service.
Services & Treatment
The Columbia College Chicago Health Center is able to provide outpatient care and diagnosis of the following conditions:
Sage Medical Group is an established, independent group of seven primary care physicians and three nurse practitioners. All physicians are Board certified in Internal Medicine, and several have subspecialty certifications.
Sage currently provides a full array of Internal Medicine services and treatment of minor lacerations, minor orthopedic problems, minor eye problems, and minor dermatology problems.
Sage Medical Group has experience with servicing and meeting the needs of college students. For example, the physicians are aware of the stressful situations students commonly face and the emotional and physical consequences of those stresses. Therefore, sufficient time is scheduled to meet with each patient; Sage believes that quality care begins with communication, not testing.
