Courses that do not need portfolio review:
Portfolio reviews are not required for the following Columbia College Chicago courses, if you have successfully completed equivalent foundation level courses at another institution:
22-1220 Fundamentals of 2-D Design
22-1230 Fundamentals of 3-D Design
22-1210 Drawing I
Courses that require portfolio review:
All other Fashion Design or Fashion Construction courses require a portfolio review.
Note: In order to ensure the proper placement of transfer students, the Fashion Studies Department does not guarantee the equivalence of any other Fashion Studies course. Both an interview and a portfolio review with a Fashion Studies faculty are required to determine whether or not other Fashion Studies transfer courses will be accepted as equivalent, substitute or waived courses.
Student asked to bring:
Students must provide a transcript, a course description (syllabus preferred) and, if appropriate, a portfolio of work samples. The faculty will evaluate this information in a meeting with the student. Out of town students can provide the information by mail or fax and faculty can respond by phone, letter, or e-mail.
Timeline:
Faculty will respond within 10 business days to the student's request. Faculty will enter their evaluation on a Course Equivalency, Substitution, or Waiver Form online. A copy of entry will be emailed to the student and be part of their Oasis Record. The Office of Degree Evaluation will issue a new or revised Transfer Evaluation Report to the student within a week of receipt of the form.
