Martin Atkins began playing drums at age 9, and has been building a career on experiences ever since.

In 1979, Martin joined Public Image, Ltd. with whom he co-wrote songs, co-produced albums, and performed around the world until 1985 when he moved to the United States.

Martin founded Invisible Records in September of 1988, and soon after was asked to join Killing Joke.  He not only began playing with the band, but also became their manager for an album, several tours, and even began designing the band’s t-shirts and stage scenery.

He was invited to tour with Ministry in 1990.  Post touring with Ministry, Martin began working with various artists, including playing for Nine Inch Nails.  He also toured the world again with his band Pigface in the early 90s.  By 1995, Martin was creating, packaging, and promoting multi-band tours.

In 2003, Martin found a new passion when he began teaching “The Business of Touring” for Columbia College Chicago.  He was able to pass on the knowledge from his experiences to his students and prepare them for the pitfalls of the music industry.  This has lead to the publishing of Martin’s “Tour Smart: And Break The Band” book on the music business.
