Photogravure, as perfected by Karl Klic in 1879, is still the most versatile process for producing continuous tone, photographic intaglio prints. Through the use of digital positives, drawing, painting, photography and digital imaging aesthetics come together on a single plate that can be endlessly manipulated. Plate reworking and hand-etching techniques will also be covered along with various printing tricks and image making strategies.

Chris Flynn is an artist, printmaker and drummer from Chicago with a BFA from SAIC (1999). Chris is a master printer at Anchor Graphics and Photogravure instructor at Columbia College. He is currently working toward an MFA through Columbia’s Interdisciplinary Book and Paper Arts Graduate program. To view prints, drawings and paper works, visit cflynnprints.com.
