Papercuts: The Contemporary Art of Papercutting

Papercuts: The Art of Works Cut by Hand Exhibition curator and exhibiting artist Reni Gower will introduce the historical precedents for the ancient art of paper cutting, discuss the contemporary artists and art in the exhibition, and reveal the back-story of how the exhibition came to be.

JAB Symposium Making Artist Books

The Making Artists’ Books Symposium is based on JAB36 – the Journal of Artists’ Books #36 – which is a special issue dedicated to studio practice. The basic questions posed to each artist were: How does your studio practice inform your work?

About Us

In 1993, the Center for Book and Paper Arts was created within the Interdisciplinary Arts Department, with a mission of advancing research and innovation in the interdisciplinary practices of the artist’s book and hand papermaking, providing support for our graduate programs, and engaging the public through lectures, workshops, exhibitions and events. Together, we share the principle that interdisciplinarity is a defining characteristic of contemporary art practice, and a necessary prerequisite for those artists who will shape the future.
