Interdisciplinary Arts, MA


The MA program guides and supports artists and educators who wish to expand their creative practices and deepen their understanding of interdisciplinary art theory, history and technique. You’ll build connections between visual art, movement, sound, writing and drama. In as little as one calendar year, you can develop an understanding of contemporary art practice, new and expanded technical skills, and build a professional portfolio that will accelerate your creative career.

The MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts & Media fosters innovative dialog between the fine, performing and media arts. You are empowered to interrogate the value systems embedded in our media tools, deploy design thinking as a tactical disruption of studio practice, and develop a command of creative languages while incorporating emerging technologies with traditional materials and art processes in a diverse array of creative outcomes.

Interdisciplinary Book & Paper Arts, MFA


Integrate experimentation with technical and conceptual considerations with an Interdisciplinary MFA in Book & Paper. Learn to understand hand papermaking and the book arts as media with applications in cultural discourse, community building and collaborative practice. You’ll have access to some of the finest bindery, papermaking, and printing equipment and facilities in the country as you create work that incorporates new media, performance and installation.

Intensive Summer, MA


The MA Intensive Summer is a low-residency program offering the same innovative curriculum as the current one-year MA degree but scheduled across two consecutive summer sessions. The vigorous pace of the nine-week summer sessions is balanced with independent art practice and research under the guidance of Interdisciplinary Arts faculty in the interim year. You’ll network, collaborate with a cohort of classmates from around the country and world, and create a contemporary interdisciplinary body of work.
