The English Department employs process-oriented, technologically supported, cross-disciplinary teaching strategies in literature, writing and oral communication. Our faculty includes esteemed scholars, well-published writers and experienced practitioners. In addition to an interdisciplinary Cultural Studies major and minors in Professional Writing and Literature, the department supports, extends and deepens your engagement at Columbia while simultaneously preparing you to be a more thoughtful, conscientious citizen.
Our small class sizes allow personalized interaction between you and our expert faculty. This gives you and other students, in the words of the college’s mission, “an opportunity to try themselves out, to explore, and to discover what they can and want to do.”
Reviewing the Arts: Commentary and Criticism is the official blog by students in the “Reviewing the Arts” and “Writing About Arts and Media” Honors courses. Updated regularly throughout the semester.Read More
