The Radio Department provides you with a comprehensive overview of the art and business of radio broadcasting. You’ll learn, create and explore with working-professional faculty who are beloved fixtures of the Chicago airwaves. All radio students learn how to be on the air, create content and host shows, create podcasts and online promotions, and use the latest technologies and social media. You’ll challenge yourself with in-depth courses such as news and sportscasting, voiceover, documentary, audio theater, storytelling and even club DJing in live entertainment venues. And your training ground will be the studios of our award-winning student radio station WCRX 88.1 FM and wcrxfm.com, recognized as one of the top 10 college radio stations in America.
WCRX is Columbia's student-run radio station serving the college campus and surrounding communities. WCRX has won numerous awards and has been ranked among the country’s top college radio stations by the Huffington Post and the Washington Post.
