Jessica’s academic and creative studies are well integrated. During her work in the Cancer Research Lab, she began using the microscope as a means of artistic exploration. Using the microscope-as-camera she photographed plant samples from each of her past residences as a representation of the ambiguity of the contemporary notion of home. She has been on the Dean’s list every semester and received a summer Work/Study Scholarship to the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Her art work has been included in six recent exhibitions including: the 2011 Columbia College Chicago Honors Exhibition, the 2012 Pougialis Exhibition at Columbia College Chicago and, Jessica performed with the British installation/performance group, motiroti, at the 2012 Feast Exhibition at the SMART Museum in Chicago.
