Students in the directing program, in concert with actors, designers, and stage managers, mount one act and full-length plays that reflect the breadth of work in theatre today -- contemporary, classical and devised work. This is the place to see the work of tomorrow's off-loop and storefront theatres.
Staged readings provide a venue for new work created by student playwriting majors and Theatre Department faculty.
The Theatre Department works with other community-based organizations to develop programming and partnerships. Through these partnerships, we have placed students and faculty in creative collaborations, productions, teaching and service learning initiatives that directly engage the Theatre Department in the cultural life of the City of Chicago.
