• About Albert P. Weisman

  The Albert P. Weisman Award was established in 1974 to encourage Columbia College Chicago students to complete a significant body of work. The Award is named for the late Al Weisman, a trustee of the college and one of Chicago's best known and respected communicators. Mr. Weisman was a journalist, publicist, teacher and mentor to many. The Weisman Award is intended to perpetuate his commitment to nurturing interest and excellence in all aspects of communication.

  Sponsorship:

  The Albert P. Weisman Award is made possible by the generosity of Tony Weisman, the Weisman committee and the many friends of Albert P. Weisman who donate both time and resources to make this award possible.
• Award Terms
  • Award amount is a stipend up to $2,000;
  • Recipients will receive the first half of the stipend in October/November,
    
  • Recipients will receive the second half of the stipend in May, provided recipients have:
    • Completed all requirements outlined in their award letter;
    • Submitted their final project and paperwork to the Career Center by the deadline provided;
      Note: If the final project and paperwork has not been received, the second half of the stipend will be rescinded;
  • The rules and regulations governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts, or loans) will apply.
  • Graduate students enrolled in a 0 credit hour thesis continuance course are not eligible to receive award.

  The Degree Completion Assistance Grant provides financial support to juniors and seniors who are nearing graduation, and who can demonstrate that receiving assistance from the grant will help them in achieving their academic goals.
