Jay W. Boersma Endowed Scholarship in the Department of English and Creative Writing

for continuing undergraduate students

The Jay W. Boersma Endowed Scholarship in the Department of English and Creative Writing was established to help defray the cost of tuition for full-time, undergraduate, English and Creative Writing students.

This scholarship application will not be running for the 2024-25 academic year. 

The Jay W. Boersma Endowed Scholarship in the Department of English and Creative Writing is open to:

  • Full-time, undergraduate students studying within the English and Creative Writing Department
  • Students who complete a minimum of 60 credit hours at Columbia by the end of the Spring 2024 semester
  • Students who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher
  • Students who demonstrate outstanding achievement and a personal commitment to their respective discipline
  • Students who demonstrate financial need through a completed 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The 2024-25 FAFSA must be submitted by February 1, 2024 for Jay W. Boersma Endowed Scholarship in the Department of English and Creative Writing consideration.
Scholarship based on:
  • Academic merit
  • Financial need
Scholarship amount:
  • Previous amount was up to $1,900 (half awarded in Fall and half awarded in Spring)

    • Endowed scholarship award amounts are subject to change.
Notification of the scholarship:
  • All applicants will be notified by email in March/April 2024.
