Nancy W. and John D. McBride Memorial Fund

for continuing undergraduate and graduate students

The Nancy W. and John D. McBride Memorial Fund is designed to help in defraying course tuition, housing and fees, and other expenses of commuter students.

• How to Apply - Continuing Students

  Visit Internal Scholarships and click on APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS to access the Nancy W. and John D. McBride Memorial Fund. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.

  Please follow all directions carefully. Students must submit the following materials to make a complete John D. McBride Memorial Fund. There are 4 parts to the application:

   

  PART 1: COMMUTER STUDENT

  Will you be a commuter student for the Fall 2024 semester? Yes/No

  PART 2: ESSAY

  In 250 words or less please describe how the scholarship funds would significantly impact your Columbia experience.

  PART 3: ABOUT YOURSELF

  Are you a first-generation student to attend college in your family or have you overcome significant obstacles to attend Columbia? In 250-500 tell the Scholarship Committee a bit about your journey to come to Columbia.

  PART 4: FAFSA SUBMISSION SUMMARY

  A current FAFSA Submission Summary must be on file. To receive a FAFSA Submission Summary, students must complete a 2024-25 financial aid application (FAFSA) by May 15, 2024.

  Access online applications through Internal Scholarships.

• How to Apply - Incoming Students

  Incoming students who wish to apply for the Nancy W. and John D. McBride Memorial Fund may do so from their Columbia Connect status page. Only complete scholarship applications submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by the scholarship committee.

  Students must submit the following materials to make a complete Nancy W. and John D. McBride Memorial Fund application. There are four parts to the application:

• Scholarship Terms
  • Applications must be submitted by May 15, 2024 (11:59pm) for review by the Scholarship Committee
  • Amount of this one-semester award is up to $8,333 for Fall 2024
  • Award is applied to all components of the student’s cost of attendance. This includes tuition, books, fees, and housing.
  • This award cannot exceed the recipients cost of attendance
  • Recipients must maintain full-time enrollment during the Fall 2024 semester.
  • Graduate students enrolled in a 0-credit hour thesis continuance course are not eligible to receive award.
  • Outstanding documents to Columbia Central before the scholarship can be disbursed. Students can review missing documents in the MyColumbia portal under MyFinancials
  • Scholarship may be used toward a study abroad program through one of Columbia's student exchange programs, excluding Summer sessions. Please note: Recipients who enroll in an independent study abroad program will forfeit their scholarship during the semester spent abroad
  • The rules and regulations governing other sources of financial aid (federal, state, institutional and other grants, gifts, or loans) will apply
  • Columbia College Chicago reserves the right to withhold the award in any year in which, at the sole discretion of the scholarship committee, suitable candidates cannot be found among applicants

• 12:00AM - 11:55PM 2024-25 Degree Completion Assistance Grant Application Deadline
  The Degree Completion Assistance Grant provides financial support to juniors and seniors who are nearing graduation, and who can demonstrate that receiving assistance from the grant will help them in achieving their academic goals.
