Quinn Robinson

Animation BA '23

“I was shocked at how candid I could be with my professors when asking about their personal experiences in the industry … I learned a lot about how the industry operates from them,” says recent Animation graduate Quinn Robinson.

What would you say has been the most surprising thing you learned at Columbia?

I was shocked at how candid I could be with my professors when asking about their personal experiences in the industry. In most other fields, we are so accustomed to people being tight-lipped about their jobs. I learned a lot about how the industry operates from them.

What individuals or programs at Columbia were helpful to you in reaching your goal of graduating?

One individual, as many other Animation majors can attest to, who was integral to many students' art and personal development was Julian Grant. If not for the incredible amount of encouragement he gave me my freshman year, I wouldn't have had the confidence to take on big girl jobs these days.

What are your plans for after graduation?

I plan to work in a studio local to Chicago for a few years and eventually move on to a Los Angeles studio once I've learned everything that studio has to offer.

If you were going to sum up your experience at Columbia in one sentence, what would you say?

The incredible amount of networking opportunities just with my classmates has given me my own short list of individuals I plan to work with in the future, not to mention all of the career and extracurricular opportunities Columbia has offered.
